Long-time friends and associates, Kathy Garver and Barry Barsamian, decided it would be great fun to create an entertaining television show about colorful people and the exciting events happening around them. Choosing first from their vast array of colorful acquaintances, they put together Backstage with Barry and Kathy. Each week Barry and Kathy will escort their audience to happening people, places, and special events. Their premier show was filmed with Joy Venturini Bianchi, a treasured personality from San Francisco who has devoted much of her life to her charity, Helper's Home. Joy accepts donations of usable clothing, accessories, books and the like and resells them to the public from her store, Helper's Bazaar, at Ghirardelli Square, and her newly-opened Helper's Home Couture House near Golden Gate Park. Specially designed holiday ornaments and slippers made by some of the mentally challenged who have benefited from Joy’s good works, are also for sale. There is a room devoted entirely to men's clothing from the exclusive store Wilkes Bashford in SF.  Joy also started "Mousecouture" – a collectible line of small 4-inch stuffed toy mice (like Stuart Little!) outfitted by internationally famous designers such as Givenchy, Galanos, and Bill Blass. Beautiful laser copies of the original designer's costume sketches are also for sale.  Interesting people are always at the forefront to meet, greet and entertain on Backstage with Barry and Kathy!
